Rustic Burger FTW

Rustic Burger just might be the best burger in the SCV right now.

The folks behind the Fish Tail Grill and Rustic Eatery have opened Rustic Burger in the Bridgeport Marketplace, taking over the spot left vacant by the Italian restaurant Frankie’s (which left before we had a chance to go).

Rustic_Burger2Rustic Burger serves a basic menu: burgers, a great selection of craft beer, milkshakes, salads, chili, fries and a few side orders like mac and cheese and deviled eggs.

But really, if you go to Rustic Burger, get a burger, either a fresh ground patty from chuck and brisket or sow and cow (made with 30 % pork). Both are a little on the pricy side at $8 and $9 respectively, but worth it. Cooked medium with an assortment of topping options, it’s probably the best burger in the SCV right now.

If you’re not a red-meat eater, the restaurant also offers chicken breast, tofu, shrimp or salmon, all of which can be made into burger/sandwiches with brioche, pretzel buns, wheat or gluten free bread options.

If you’re not into burgers, red meat or sandwiches then you might just want to go somewhere else. (Just kidding, their salad options may be limited—wedge, house and Caesar—but pretty tasty since you can add a protein of choice to the salad.

As for the fried sides, we’ve tried both the French fries and the tater tots. With the aioli sauce for dipping, you can’t lose with either.

Our only complaint? They’re probably losing out on business by closing at 9 pm, even on weekends. Rustic Burger could dominate the late-night options in the SCV, which is a pretty sparse field right now.
