SCVFoodie traveled further into the wilds of the Santa Clarita Valley this morning, forgoing the usual breakfast places in the Newhall/Stevenson Ranch/Town Center area to the corner of Seco Canyon and Copper Hill roads for Thelma’s Morning Cafe.
The extensive egg-centric breakfast menu features traditional, omelets, scrambles and Mexican favorites along with a few different flavor combinations, including a chicken pesto scramble with feta cheese.
We opted for the breakfast quesadilla and asked for egg whites along with the usual bacon, cheddar and jack cheeses in a grilled flour tortilla. Our dining companion, Mr. SCVFoodie, had the country breakfast with bacon, house potatoes (garlic and rosemary), two scrambled eggs and a couple of fluffy pancakes topped with a caramelized banana.
The plating of the entrees is neat and set apart from covering-every-inch-of-the-plate method popular in the SCV. There’s care in the presentation and the cooking—and it shows in the taste. We’ll forgive them for being a little heavy-handed with the salt, but other then that, we’ll definitely be back.
By the way, breakfast is served all day.
